Green mosque has two-storey and domes. At the entrance hall, there are two symmetrical rooms with fireplaces and windows. Those rooms were a place to discuss issues as sanjak and courtroom. When you pass through two columns, you will see a fountain/şadırvan and after that, and then, you reach to the central praying area. In this area, there is one big iwan, eyvan, with a mihrab through vestibule. The mihrab is ornamented with tile-work, vegetal, geometric patterns and muqarnas.
Architecture of Green Mosque
There are two stairs to go to second floor where hünkar mahfili / sultan’s lodge and royalty rooms. Those rooms have windows opening to the main facade. The facade of the mosque is made out of detailed carved marble-work which is coming from Marmara Island. It is the first mosque with marble in Bursa. The gate and windows are an examples of a mastery wooden engraving.
You will see tiles decorations on hünkar mahfili, iwans, tabhane, royalty rooms. Especially, mihrap and hünkar mahfili have a rich tile work. In the second story, the room is full of with geometric and vegetal patterns, flower motifs, muqarnas. The madrassa is the Bursa Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum in these days. At past, there were also two inns Sultan and Fidan Hans to get income from the mosque.

Green Tomb
Sultan Çelebi Mehmed I commissioned this great structure in Yeşil, Bursa. The architect is Haci Ivaz Paşa. In the area, there are sarcophagus of sultan, family members and children’s nanny as well. The architecture style is hexagonal and it has a hemi-spherical dome. It’s not possible unaware of this amazing architecture in Yeşil district.
This is a tremendous exterior design which represents a harmony of green and blue tiles. Not only exterior but also interior is fascinating. At the main entrance, you will see a balance of green, blue and yellow tiles combined together including muqarnas. In addition, Mehmed Çelebi I commanded to built this tomb and died after only forty days later.
